Kirby's Dream World Blankets

I just sold a blanket that I made without a buyer in mind. I don't often get to work on personal projects because of my commission list, so when I do its curious to me to see how long it takes to get a new home. This blanket is special to me because I made a traditional quilt back to it. Anyway, as I send it off to its new home, I gave it the same hang up and lint roll treatment all the other blankets get and I took a few last pictures!

Good buy friend! I look at all the fabric used and I remember old projects and good memories so I hope you go and make your new owner happy!

I also wanted to highlight a new design that I made that was inspired from the first one! So in Kirby's Dream World there is a status icon of him sleeping and a client requested a queen sized blanket be made of that instead! Again I worked with limited color pallets and this one was more brown then pink, but I found its design to be very pleasing.

As with all designs when I first make them, there are things I ill tweak if I make them again. I made it with 3 inch squares and next time I'd like to stick with 2.5 and play with wider pink and brown borders instead. I am limited in options of pinks and light browns as well so It would be fun to have a client who might like to try it with patterned fabric as well.  I might try more colors as well so his hat/feet are a bit easier to identify and let the moon and starts stand out a bit more.
